Ultra-lame, by-the-numbers futuristic sci-fi tale about a man (Christopher Lambert) and woman who get sent to a maximum security prison known as "The Fortress" for attempting to have a child. Naturally, they get separated during their incarceration. Lambert is turned into a brainwashed zombie for being unruly, and his wife is being kept as the personal pet of the creepy warden. His prison pals finally rehabilitate Lambert and a daring jailbreak takes place, in which each of the cast members goes out in a blaze of glory to help the others escape. Ho hum. I think the couple does finally escape together, but everyone else dies.
