Tron (1982)

Rating: ****
Director: Steven Lisberger
Music: Journey
Music Score: Wendy Carlos
Cast: Jeff Bridges, David Warner, Bruce Boxleitner, Cindy Morgan

A fascinating and groundbreaking film about a computer genius (Jeff Bridges) who gets zapped into a computer world dictated by the fascist Master Control Program and its right-hand program Sark (David Warner). In the computer world, Flynn (Bridges) must liberate a tough program named Tron (Bruce Boxleitner) who holds the key to destroying the MCP's iron fisted rule. Granted, it's totally corny, but the art direction and cutting edge computer animation is spectacular. The cast works well in the completely artificial environment which is the best realization of cyberspace that anyone has ever pulled off. An amazing film.
