Oh my god. My very first girls with guns drawing. I nailed the attitude and intensity perfectly, but the execution is woefully unsophisticated. Even though I used colored pencils, I might as well have been using crayons. The lack of depth, detail, and texture is appalling, but it was my first big step in a life-long journey of self expression and discovery.
And just look at all of that adolescent male fantasy imagery pouring out of the
page! The tight blue jeans, the thigh-high hooker boots, the Bruce Springsteen
t-shirt, the overpowering blush, and the obnoxious blue eye shadow. Ew... Why
did I ever think blue eye shadow was attractive? Apart from being my first girls
with guns image, this drawing also represents my first (and only) drawing of a
car. Naturally, it's a 1969 Mustang, the sexiest car on the planet. It provides
a setting and thematic context for the character to exist in, as if I was uncertain
that she could stand on her own.
