I absolutely love this drawing, and think it's the boldest and most inspired image
I've drawn in the last ten years. It presented a lot of challenges, but the biggest
one was psychological. I wanted this image to be tender and aggressive, implying
both sensual intimacy and the threat of violence. But I didn't want it to be
interpreted as a rape. I wanted both characters to be willing and wanting,
with a heightened sense of danger and anxiety provided by the cocked gun which could
explode in orgasmic fury at any moment. I guess in that regard, it's an exploration
of the gun-penis metaphor, although hopefully not a blatant one.
