Several levels have been enhanced since the original Dreamcast release of the game, resulting in new stage breaks. The most dramatic new stage break is in the Dragon Hills.
There are also some differences in the levels themselves between the PlayStation 2 versions and the Dreamcast versions. On the PS2 "The White Storm" has blowing wind and "The Demon Church" features a broken and uneven floor.
* The Aerial Garden has several selectable variations. The Dreamcast versions feature mid-day and night time variations, while the PS2 version of DOA2 features sunset and night time. Both versions of "Hardcore" feature all three variations.
** Concerning "The Danger Zone 2" - This is the default sparring stage for the original DOA2 versions, whereas it's a selectable stage in Hardcore. Additionally, ALL stages are selectable in sparring mode in Hardcore.
